Home based training

I have always thought it was sort of funny to drive some place to ride my bike. If you've been a reader then you know my hood is nothing but hills. Well duh, isn't that what I need to be training on to become stronger? So last evening I did a loop that I rode before. I actually looped it 4 times. The first was the hardest because there is no flat riding before you go up or down. The 3rd time was the easiest because I was in the groove.

Sooo I think with the gas prices I'll train in the hood and only ride the river on the weekends... but then I'll have to ride to the river to ride the river. Ya know?

I had a bet with some friends that Emily would hit the new Wal-Mart Supercenter which opened this morning by noon and sure enough she texted me a few moments ago and was there.

I hear ya, Geo! I have to drive to find flat!! I don't mind riding my neighborhood during the week, but on the weekends, I like to hit the Silver Comet. Lucky for me, there's a flat 5 mile loop by my work I can ride to for intervals and such...

You got that Em all figured out ;-)

Geo, I used to always drive to the ride until last year when I thought I'd save some gas money by riding to the ride. It's a relief when I finally get to the trail. If I ride my bike to the BDB and then ride it back home, I've climbed about 1400 feet. Sometimes I just ride over, then turn around and ride back!

I love hills even though I haven't done much of them this year! But I love having the time to ride from my house to a river ride. I have the mother of all hills to get back to my house-Mountain Drive(appropriately named). I probably wouldn't have bought this house had I been a cyclist at the time!

Oh boy! I think I might start riding to work with the gas prices nowadays!
